The New Media Institute (NMI) is a research and fact finding organization whose mission is to improve public understanding of issues surrounding the Internet and other forms new media communications. NMI works directly with the news media, researchers, academics, government and industry professionals and serves as a primary resource of facts, statistics and analysis.

John Spagnuolo - President

John Spagnuolo is the founder and President of the New Media Institute (NMI), where he works with the media on issues surrounding the Internet and other forms of new media.

Prior to NMI, John was the Vice President of Integrated Communications for the Insurance Information Institute. Considered the insurance industry's "new media guru", John has consulted to chief communications executives of the top insurance and financial services companies around the world, advising them on new technologies in communications, online media relations, Web strategies and organic search engine optimization.

As part of the Whitehouse's National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace, John has worked with Homeland Security in forging a partnership between the public and private sectors in order to secure the Internet by forming an integrated communications campaign.

John's experience also includes managing new media business development for Family Network in New York.

John received his Masters Degree in Strategic Communications from Columbia University, where he focused much of his work on how to use technology for communications.

By the time he received his B.S. in marketing from Rutgers University in 1999, John had gained wide-ranging experience in public relations, advertising, graphic design and Web-related enterprise.
